  • In 1995, SpaceQuest provided Artic explorer Will Steger and his team with a lightweight satellite terminal from which to send e-mail from the North Pole. The team had embarked on 1,200-mile trek from Siberia to Elsmere Island and used the SpaceQuest equipment to relay messages to a SpaceQuest ground station in Fairfax, Virginia that were then routed via the Internet to the National Geographic Society and to classrooms around the world following the expedition.
